Duns-founded GoFibre named UK’s fastest-growing broadband company
A broadband company founded in Duns has been named the fastest-growing in its sector in the UK after more than quadrupling its turnover in two years.
GoFibre, which began in the Berwickshire town in 2017, topped the broadband sector in the newly published 2026 UK Fast Growth Index.

The independent provider also ranked fifth among Scotland’s fastest-growing businesses overall, climbing from ninth place last year.
Now based in Edinburgh, the company specialises in bringing full fibre broadband to rural and hard-to-reach communities. Its network covers more than 140,000 premises, with expansion continuing across southern and north-east Scotland.
The latest recognition follows a series of business awards and nominations for the firm, including success at the Scottish Borders Business Excellence Awards.
Sam Calvert, GoFibre’s chief commercial officer, said the ranking reflected the company’s ambitions and the work of its staff.
“GoFibre has had a phenomenal 2026, after a brilliant 2025,” he said.
“We’re thrilled to be leading the way for digital and technology companies in Scotland, as the fastest-growing in the sector and the fifth fastest-growing company in Scotland overall.
“This is testament to our growth ambitions, backed up by the hard work and ingenuity of our team including top quality engineering and industry-leading customer service.”
Mr Calvert said network expansion, customer growth and retention had contributed to its performance, with customer take-up in new build areas exceeding expectations.
“We are proud to be an independent Scottish-based company, connecting communities to gigabit-capable broadband which will enable our rural and hard to reach communities to thrive and prosper,” he said.
“We are excited about further growth in 2027 and continuing to deliver our mission to improve digital connectivity and connect new communities.”
The UK Fast Growth Index identifies the 350 fastest-growing independent businesses across the country’s nations and regions.
Together, those featured in the 2026 index increased their combined turnover from £4.3 billion in 2023 to £10.2 billion in 2025, a rise of 137 per cent.
Professor Dylan Jones-Evans, founder of the index, said GoFibre demonstrated the ambition found in businesses across the UK.
“GoFibre is a great example of the extraordinary talent and ambition we see in businesses across every part of the UK,” he said.
“Earning a place on this year’s Index, alongside firms that have together more than doubled in size in just two years, is a remarkable achievement, and the whole team should be very proud.”
He added: “At a time when we hear so much about the challenges facing the UK economy, businesses like GoFibre show what is possible when they are given the chance to grow.”
GoFibre was also included in the inaugural Sunday Times Scotland Fast 50 this year and shortlisted for High Growth Company of the Year at the Scotland Business of the Year Awards.
It won High Growth Company of the Year at the Scottish Borders Business Excellence Awards for the second year running.
