Wool from the Hills features four performers – Irene Chisholm, Jim Chisholm, Ronnie Fleming and David Grant – who tell the story of the sheep industry in the Borders over thousands of years.

The production uses a stunning mix of visual materials and a backdrop of specially-composed music by accordion virtuoso Ian Lowthian, creating a subtle blend of narrative, poetry, characterisation and a few surprises set over three scenarios: The Sheep, The Herds, and The Farming Year.

It is set to be evocative and thought-provoking as well as being informative and highly entertaining with a fair bit of humour thrown in.

At the launch, a three course meal will be provided prepared by The Caddy Mann, and a fully stocked bar by the Cross Keys, Ancrum with locally brewed ales.

As usual a DVD of the performance will be available
for anyone wishing to send a copy to friends or relatives – it would make an excellent Christmas present for anyone with
a Borders connection, or
with a general interest in the area.

A spokesperson form Well Road Productions said that the group’s ultimate aim is to be able to provide a pack of
materials to put into every school in the Borders to help enlighten pupils to the wonderful history and heritage of the area they are so privileged to live in.

With the addition of this latest work they feel that they are now well on track to be able to do this.

Wool From The Hills will be performed in Eckford Village Hall on November 20 and 21. These shows are already sold out, but Well Road Productions will be taking the show on tour throughout the Borders in spring 2016 and are keen to hear from other venues or Village Halls who would be interested in hosting the event.
