Preview: science fun-day in Hawick to go with a bang

On Saturday May 28, from 10.30am–3.30pm, the park will host a science-based family fun day, with a range of hands-on activities and experiments on offer.

You can join the Dynamic Earth Team to explore the exciting world of human space flight. Perfect for budding astronauts and Tim Peake enthusiasts!

The Glasgow Science Centre team will roam amongst the crowd and amaze you with exciting and interactive health and wellbeing demos. With fun and active busking activities and more you can experiment, engage and enjoy learning about how your body works.

At the Can’t Dance Cameron workshop, you can meet Cameron the Capercaillie, the worst dancer in the Cairngorms! Will he ever learn to groove like a Capercaillie? Join author Emily Dodd to find out about the animals that live in the Cairngorms, kick some football pinecones and learn a few funky dance moves.

At the electronic circuits workshops, you can reate your very own robot, alien or weird and wonderful creature.

Learn about life’s millions of different forms in the 
beginner’s guide to life on earth workshop. But be warned – they’re not all cute and cuddly. Come and meet them in all their scaly, slimy, squishy, prickly glory.

Have you ever made a Polyhydra before? Now’s your chance! Construct 3D geometric models out of circles, triangles and squares at the fun shapes workshop.

Some activities need to be booked in advance.
