Eastgate’s full digital experience

Audiences at Eastgate’s Film Sunday enjoyed Spectre on a new screen – the latest development in the Peebles venue’s commitment to delivering a full digital cinema experience across the more than 100 screened presentations each year.

Sir David Younger, Eastgate Theatre board chair, commended the team that handled the installation, including Robert Barr, his two colleagues and the Eastgate’s technical manager, Richard Hogg, who battled through the wettest November weather to hoist the 7m-wide screen into position.

Film-lovers have much to look forward to at the Eastgate in 2016 with more than 100 screenings over the coming year – all on a brand new and much larger screen.

For the winter season, there is also now a choice of three different films on Film Sundays.

The triple screenings begin on January 3 with showings of The Good Dinosaur (2.30pm), The Lady in the Van (pictured, 4.30pm) and Brooklyn (7.30pm).

Tweeddale film club presents an annual season of seven classic films on the 
big screen at the Eastgate Theatre on the second Wednesday of the month (October to April). The final three films of the community group’s season are La Tourneuses de Pages (The Page Turner) on January 13, Pride on February 10 and Castles in the Sky on March 9.

And there will be yet more great films (shorts and feature-length) at the second Peebles Outdoor Film Festival (January 22-24).

There is also an outstanding line-up of speakers, including round-the-world adventurer Mark Beaumont and elite mountain bikers Lee Craigie and Katy Winton, and hands-on activities covering everything from adventure film-making, cycling and trail running to climbing, skiing, wildlife photography and canicross.

Outdoor enthusiasts will be entertained and inspired in equal measure!
