This new show, on October 1, at 7.30pm, features the old favourites and big band swing tunes of yesteryear with the showstoppers and dance hits of today, all played in the style of the legendary James Last Orchestra.

Cheshire-born Mike James is one of Britain’s most respected and experienced bandleaders. Of his many successes, the residency at the Tower Ballroom in Blackpool is viewed as one of his best. Not only because it is the only residency of its type left in Britain, but because Mike used to go to the ballroom with his parents to watch the Charlie Barlow band perform and dreamt that one day he could perform with his band.

In 1990 his dream came true when First Leisure asked him to put a big band back in the ballroom for the first time since 1972.

The season was so successful the Tower carried on with this policy for many years after.

A Mike James concert is one of those not-to-be-missed nights of unforgettable music magic.
