STRING Jam Club kick off their 2011 programme with the annual Burns Night Bash on Saturday, January 29.
“Whether you want to play or just come along and enjoy the festivities, the Burns Night Bash is a great opportunity to hear the cream of local musicianship and have a great time in the process,” Allie Fox of the String Jam Club.
The club’s stage in the Salmon Inn, Galashiels will be open to any musicians who want to perform and share their music.
Allie went on: “Instead of booking a headline artist as we normally do, we welcome all musicians to take part in this magical music marathon.
“Every musician will be a star for the night, performing two of three numbers. If previous years are anything to go by, then it will be a knockout.”
The Salmon Inn’s proprietor Helen Calder will serve her haggis supper to musicians and audience members to keep the creative juices flowing, and there will be a piper to pipe it in as well as a raffle with lots of prizes.
Allie told us: “You don’t have to be a musician to be part of this event – many of our regular audience have said that this is one of their favourite gigs in their musical calendar, a great way to start the year. So sit back and enjoy.
“The Burns Night Bash is a tribute to all the local musicians who have helped to create the enduring success of the String Jam Club which is now into its second decade.
“If you would like to play, please contact us soon for a spot as we anticipate great demand. Blow away those recession blues, come on down and have some fun.”
