Akers comes home

Peebles-born, performing works by David Peebles – there is only one town James Akers could play this Tuesday.

Akers takes to the Eastgate Theatre stage with a programme of 16th to 19th century music for lute and guitar, including work by David Peebles, one of Scotland’s leading Renaissance composers.

Akers has performed and recorded with leading musicians including Dame Emma Kirkby, Alison Balsom, Damon Albarn, the Scottish, English and Irish Chamber Orchestras and English National Opera.

He has appeared at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre and performed on film soundtracks including Ridley Scott’s Robin Hood.
