illustrations by Ettrick artist Alma Dowle which featured in children’s fantasy novel Monkey King’s Revenge are on show in Selkirk’s Robson Gallery.
The book, by Melrose author Oliver Eade, is a sequel to Moon Rabbit, about a Scottish boy and a Chinese girl who end up in mythological China.
Monkey’s King’s Revenge (above) is a finalist for this year’s the People’s Book Prize.
The exhibition – including photographs and artefacts from China, runs until May 13.
Oliver and his Chinese wife, Yvonne Wei-Lun, who regularly visit her family in China, are giving an illustrated talk on Wednesday, April 25, in the gallery, on Market Place. The one-hour talk on the state of China today will start at 7.30pm.
Alma will hold a children’s Chinese brush painting workshop in the gallery on Wednesday, 1.30pm to 3pm.
