Following the winter closure, a lot of work has been carried out on the archives and displays in order to be ready for the influx of visitors. Last year, nearly 2,000 people passed through through the doors and the museum is looking forward to welcoming tourists and locals to experience the story of John Buchan and his family.

Ian Buckingham, one of the trustees of the museum, said: “Our facility is a charity and relies on a stalwart band of volunteers to look after the front desk and welcome visitors. We would like to attract some new volunteers to help, with a commitment of only a half-day per month required.

“No previous knowledge of Buchan is necessary as training will be given and our volunteers soon pick up a lot of information. It’s an opportunity to engage with visitors to the town and help one of our newest tourist attractions.”

If you would like to be involved, please contact Ian for a chat and an informal visit to see what it’s all about. He can be contacted on 01721 722659.

The museum will soon be welcoming some large tour visits, including a group from an American university and from Canada. It promises to be a busy season!
