THIS weekend hundreds of artists in WASPS’ Studios across Scotland will throw open their doors and welcome the public into their working spaces.
The only WASPS Studio in the Borders, at St Mary’s Mill, North Riverside, in Selkirk, will see 12 artists exhibiting this year.
The weekend is a great opportunity to meet artists in an informal setting, to see where and how they work and to find out what inspires them. For the artists, it is an opportunity to meet their audience, so you can expect a warm welcome.
The event is always a lively, family-friendly affair with live acoustic sessions from talented local musicians, children’s art workshops, home baking and refreshments, which are all free. This year, the artists will also be raising funds through sales of work for CHILDREN 1st, who have a local branch in Selkirk.
Matthew Middler, Senior Regional Fundraiser, CHILDREN 1ST said: “We are delighted to have been chosen as the benefiting charity for the WASPS Selkirk exhibition this year. It is only with the support of the communities we work in that the good work of CHILDREN 1ST can continue.”
The event is free and opening times are: Saturday 11am-5pm; Sunday noon – 5pm.
