A major retrospective of work by Borders artist Nev Storer opens at the Vennel Gallery in Kelso next week.
After spending more than 30 years working with young people with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties, eventually ending up as the headmaster of a school for these youngsters, he returned to his painting after retiring due to ill health.
Nev told The Southern: “Returning to my artwork was a kind of therapy for me, trying to make sense of, and to appreciate the world I lived in.
“Part of me paints what I see and makes me appreciate the world I live in, and the other part of me tries to paint an understanding.”
The exhibition runs from Tuesday, September 16 until September 30.
