Morebattle’s festival week got off to a cracking start on Saturday with a keenly fought six-a-side football competition.
Secretary John Mabon told us: “The family day on Sunday was also well attended, and so far the weather has been relatively kind, so we’re hoping for good days the rest of the week.”
Today (August 7) sees the children’s egg hunt and teddy bears picnic for under-sixes take place at 2.30pm (bring your own teddy) – always a popular event – and the treasure hunt for 6-12 years, also at 2.30pm. The pet show will take place at 6.30pm. Classes include: (1) Large Dog, (2) Small Dog, (3) Small Pet other than dog, (4) Rescued Pet, (6) Owner most like their pet. All take place at the school.
Throughout the village, households have been showing off their creative skills, producing well-dressed scarecrows for the annual competition, right.
And tomorrow (August 8), will see the fancy dress parade take place at 6.30pm, followed by the family disco and prize-giving in Temple Hall Lounge.
On Saturday (August 9), the Games will take place at Morebattle Tofts.
