Young artists at Gala Studio Club exhibition

All the paint brushes, pastels and pencils have been put away as Galashiels Studio Club prepares to open the doors to their Annual Exhibition in Old Gala House.

The exhibition will be opened by Lynda Stoddart, President of Galashiels Rotary Club, and once again Pike and Chapman have very kindly agreed to sponsor the event. The works of several Borders professional artists will feature alongside the paintings of the Galashiels Studio Club members.

This year marks the beginning of an association of Galashiels Studio Club, Galashiels Rotary Club and Galashiels Academy Art Department.

A new ‘Young Artist’s Award’ has been inaugurated by these organisations to encourage budding local talent. Four talented young artists from Galashiels Academy: two from Seniors (winner: Glen Frizzell, second: Sarah Glenfield) and two from S1-3 (winner: Hannah Sherratt, second: Noemi Kolodziej) will receive prizes from the Rotary Club and have the privilege of having their paintings displayed for a month in Old Gala House as part of the Galashiels Studio Club Exhibition. Entrance is free to all.

It runs from Saturday June 4 to Friday July 2; Mon–Sat 10am-4pm and Sun 1pm-4pm (closed Friday June 17).
