US pop art show in Gala House

Working in partnership with the British Museum ,the exhibition, which runs from April 1 – July 2, will include works by the most celebrated American artists including Andy Warhol, Robert Rauschenberg, Kara Walker and Jasper Johns.

Entitled ‘Warhol to Walker: American prints from pop art to today’, the partnership exhibition of nine well known prints coincides with the British Museum’s ‘American Dream’ exhibition and highlights the sheer inventiveness and technical ingenuity of these famous artists, reflecting America’s power and influence over the last six decades.

Many of these works also address the deep divisions in society which are still prevalent today.

Assistant Curator Phoebe Stewart explained: “I am absolutely thrilled to be showcasing and curating an exhibition of these prestigious American prints from the British Museum’s print collection.

“This is an extraordinary collection of work and I hope it will inspire artistic debate and intrigue amongst our visitors to the gallery.”

Ewan Jackson, chief executive of Live Borders added: “We are really privileged that the British Museum is entrusting Old Gala House with the care of these works from the most celebrated American artists.”
