Tower Mill has a Theory about Sally

Since reaching the finals of BBC One talent show The Voice as Tom Jones’ protégé in 2014, she has returned to her roots, doing what she does best, touring and performing across the country.

A founding member of all-woman folk supergroup the Poozies, with whom she still performs, she also has a formidable reputation as a solo singer-songwriter.

She has been writing and performing since 1977, and has recorded six acclaimed albums, as well as touring extensively with many big names, among them Bob Dylan, Robert Plant, Richard Thompson and Fairport Convention.

Her talent was there for all to see on the Voice: her blind audition, for which she performed Nina Simone’s ‘Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood’ moved judge Tom Jones to tears. Hers was, he said, “the most beautiful voice that has been on this show so far”.

On February 8, a Borders audience will once again get the chance to hear that voice in person, when Sally hits the auditorium stage at String Theory in Hawick, for the ever-popular Live music Monday session.
