Preview: Melrose Music society presents Travelling by Tuba
Chris, who studied in Winchester and at the Royal Northern College of Music, was a member of the World Youth Orchestra for two years, touring the world.
He gained distinction in the Professional Performers Diploma and also joined one of Germany’s leading brass quintets, Rekkenze Brass, plus became principal tuba with the Hof Symphony Orchestra.

Hide AdSince returning to the UK, he has worked as both a solo and orchestral tuba player as well as regularly performing with Travelling by Tuba.
Stewart studied piano at the Guildhall College of Music in London and also at the Royal Northern College of Music, also gaining the Professional Performers Diploma.
He toured throughout Europe with the Concordia Opera Trio and has appeared as accompanist on Classic FM, BBC radio, Welsh National Opera plus the at Royal Festival Hall, the Barbican Centre, Purcell Room. He has recently returned from a tour of Poland.
Together, the duo have toured Europe, Canada and America, where they gave the American première performance of Scottish composer Andrew Duncan’s Rhapsody for Tuba Piano and Wind.

Hide AdIn Melrose, their programme will include works by Handel, Gluck, Mozart, Brahms, Hartman, Bizet, Schmidt, Williams, Harline and Rossini.
The concert takes place on Friday March 11, 7.30pm, in Melrose Parish Church Hall.
Tickets, costing £12 for non-members, are available on the door. Accompanied children are admitted free.
