Running from Friday to Sunday, August 21-23, the festival once again promises to deliver the very top names in Scottish folk music..

Now in its 18th year, the event continues to provide a great platform for fantastic music in the heart of the Borders.

True to its tradition, there will be music events taking place across multiple venues across the town.

As usual, much of the activity once again centred at the Vale Club where ‘Live and Local’ will be in action throughout the weekend.

Andy Wright of the IMF committee said: “The Innerleithen Music Festival has a strong reputation amongst artists and audience alike.

“Bands and singers approach IMF throughout the year, enquiring about performance opportunities.

“Over the years, IMF has showcased hundreds of bands and solo performers from across Scotland and farther afield, including such household names as Eddie Reader, Capercaillie and Skipinnish, as well as traditional music favourites Phil and Aly.

Matt Seattle and Donald Knox.

“Last year, one of our largest audiences was for local musician and rising star Tommy Ashby, who is currently carving out a great reputation on the national music scene.

“The festival organising committee members are already hard at work building a great line up of music events over the IMF weekend, with the initial programme being announced in May.

“IMF has always has music at its core, but we have also broadened the festival appeal in recent years with art exhibitions, local interest walks and events as well dance classes, musical workshops and musical theatre, so we’re keen to hear from artists and performers who would like to be part of IMF 2020.”

In the meantime, to kickstart IMF 2020, organisers have announced a fundraising concert which will take place on Saturday , March 28 at the Union Club, Innerleithen.

There will be a full schedule of great local bands and artists appearing on the bill including Redwood Rejects, Soul 56, All the Angels, Bobs Boiler Room and Dylan Paterson.
