Vissing scored 13+2 against the Rockets as Berwick raced to a 63-32 victory, and he followed this up with 11+1 in the 52-31 win over the Diamonds.

The maximum six league points available all but guarantees Berwick’s qualification for the end of season play-offs.

Berwick raced to their biggest win of the season when they faced Rye House in the first of their double-header clash.

The Rockets found it tough going on the big Shielfield track and they only produced two race wins, both of which came from Steve Boxall, one when he was going for double points as a tactical ride.

For Berwick it was a bumper pay night with Claus Vissing and David Bellego both racing to paid maximums, whilst Kevin Doolan top-scored with five paid wins in his haul of 15+1, only beaten by Boxall and guest Mason Campton in heat seven.

Berwick set the tone with 5-1s from the opening two heats, and another in heat four meant the visitors had to use Edward Kennett as their first tactical ride in heat five, when he finished second behind Doolan.

Berwick continued to pile up the maximum heat advantages - they raced to ten in total - and the only respite for Rye House was a 1-5 of their own in seven and a 2-7 in nine when Boxall took double points.

Steen Jensen, after a slow start, eventually got going in the second half of the meeting, and he produced the ride of the night in 12 when he stalked Boxall for four laps before going wide and passing off the very last bend.

With reserves Matej Kus and Alex Edberg also picking up six paid wins between them, Berwick were in dominant mood, and it set them up well for their second half encounter against Newcastle, which followed after a break for track grading.

The Diamonds, on the face of it, looked tougher opposition than Rye House, but like the Rockets before them, they only managed two race wins - both for Danny King, and one when he was going for double points.

The margin of victory was not as big however, as the meeting was halted after heat 13 after the curfew time of 9.30pm was reached, although the result will stand.

For the second time on the night, Claus Vissing went unbeaten by an opponent, although was was fortunate in heat 13 when King ground to a halt when he looked set for his third win.

Berwick made a steady start, but it wasn’t until they hit three 5-1s between heats three and six that they established a mach-winning lead, despite King’s double pointed victory in five.

With David Bellego, Kevin Doolan, Matej Kus and Steen Jensen also piling up the points, the Diamonds were trumped, and they had to be thankful neither Stuart Robson or Lewis Kerr were hurt following a nasty first bend crash in heat ten, when they both hit the dirt.

The racing in this meeting was a lot closer than in the earlier encounter against Rye House, but once again the Bandits dominated around their own strip, adding another three points to enhance their play-off status.

The only down side was the crash involving Alex Edberg in heat eight which left the Bandits complainingnof a possible hip injury.
