Hall wins World Long Track Championship with GB

The Bandits’ reserve top scored with 20 points as England headed the field at Mühldorf in Germany.

Six teams battled it out over 15 races, comprising six riders in each, one from each country, and England led the way with 42 points, one ahead of Germany and Finland who ended up on 41.

Germany’s Erik Riss took the win in the run-off with Finland’s Jesse Mustonen for the silver medal.

Team GB comprised of Hall, Andrew Appleton and Glen Phillips, and following their win they were presented with their gold medals and the Don Godden Trophy.

Hall was naturally delighted at his success claiming afterwards: “It couldn’t have gone any better. I maxed out apart from an engine blow up, but everything else went as it should.

“We can’t believe we are bringing the Don Godden Trophy home. We are all so happy with a gold medals!”

Meanwhile, Berwick will be represented by Kevin Doolan and Thomas Jorgensen when the Premier League Pairs are held at Somerset on Friday (July 3).

Under normal circumstances the Bandits would have seen Ben Barker and Claus Vissing wearing their colours, but of course, both are currently on the injured list and unable to compete.

But that doesn’t mean to say the Border duo will go into the meeting with an inferior complex.

“It’s all about how well you ride on the night,” said Doolan, who is the Berwick captain this year.

“We will go there and give it our best shot and just see how we get on.”

At the Oak Tree Arena, Berwick have been drawn in the same group as the home-based Rebels, Glasgow, Workington and Redcar.

The other section will include riders from Edinburgh, Newcastle, Ipswich, Rye House and Peterborough.
