JUST in the nick of time Selkirk Youth Club got back to winning ways on Saturday at their own tournament.

In the penultimate event of the eight-round series, the young Souters notched their third victory of the season to put them within touching distance of current leaders Tynedale.

After overcoming a stuffy Berwick Colts team in the first round 24-10, Youth Club squeezed through 12-7 against a strong, well-organised North Berwick team before running roughshod over Jed Thistle, winning 40-0.

This set up a mouth-watering final against title rivals Tynedale Colts, where tries from Kieran Monks (3), Callum McEwan, Harry Aynslie (2), Lewis MacLennan and five conversions from Callum McColm made the final score 45-17 to the hosts.

The club would like to thank Border Safeguard Ltd for sponsoring the tournament.
