Youth Club rise to player challenge

THINGS are looking up for struggling semi-junior outfit Selkirk Youth Club who recorded a 36-5 victory over Hawick PSA on Saturday.

Since putting out a plea for players at the start of the season, the young Souters have worked hard and managed to get themselves into fifth position in the 12-strong league.

Last Saturday was their most convincing showing so far with tries coming from Philip Anderson (2), Alan Rutter (2) and Jack Elliot, Darren Knox kicking four conversions and a penalty.

Melrose Wasps continue to dominate the table on 12 points, with Gala Wanderers (10) in second and Hawick Wanderers (8) third.
