Teries run out of time to take control

For the second week running, a hard-working Hawick side came away from a BT Premiership match with only a losing bonus point.

In a nip-and-tuck first half, a Graham Wilson penalty goal for Heriot’s was the only score.

Wilson landed another penalty at the beginning of the second half before the Greens scored two tries in three minutes. The first try was scored by winger Scott Macleod after a neat chip through by home skipper Rory Hutton. Three minutes later, allocated pro player Joaquin Domingues carved open the visiting defence and linked with Hutton, who scored, with Lee Armstrong adding the conversion.

With 15 minutes left, and with the Heriot’s scrum dominating, the visitors scored a fine try through replacement hooker Ben Cogley. Wilson added a conversion and then a penalty goal, and – despite throwing everything they had at the Heriot’s line – time ran out for the Teries.
