COMEBACKS was the theme of the weekend’s rugby action, in particular an extraordinary game between Hawick and Selkirk in the National League.
The Greens led 23-5 at half time thanks to Neil Renwick’s 18 points but Selkirk stormed back to take a dramatic win 30-26, with Gordon Patterson scoring the winning try.
Melrose were trailing 14-6 at home to Currie with 20 minutes remaining in the Premiership, but Fraser Thomson, playing for The Greenyards side on release from Glasgow Warriors, inspired the hosts to claim a 26-21 win.
Gala also maintained their 100 per cent record in the Premiership with a 29-27 triumph at Edinburgh Accies, with stand off Lee Millar contributing 19 points with the boot.
Back in the National League, Kelso got their campaign off and running with a comfortable 32-14 win at home to Hamilton, while injury hit Jed-Forest received a 78-3 thumping at Watsonians.
Elsewhere, Peebles defeated Haddington but Hawick YM suffered their first loss since October last year, going down 37-13 to a strong Howe of Fife team.
