Things are certainly heating up in the Premiership as the top teams jostle for those all important play-off positions.

And right in the midst of it are Borders outfits Melrose and Hawick who are currently sitting in third and fourth place respectively.

The Greenyards outfit have an away trip to Boroughmuir on Saturday and Melrose director of rugby Mike Dalgetty is looking for his team to back up their impressive win against leaders Ayr last week.

“The season is now at a point where every slip-up gives others a real advantage,” he warned.

On song Hawick travel to play Heriot’s and Dalgetty is aware that something has to give in either second or fourth place.

“The reality is however that we need to concentrate on ourselves and do our own jobs,” he added.

“Another good turn out from our supporters would be a bonus this week, it really helps and the boys appreciate it.”

Gala have a daunting away trip to Ayr while fellow stragglers Selkirk welcome Currie to Philiphaugh.

In National League One it’s derby day at Poynder Park as Kelso take on an in form Jed-Forest side while Peebles play host to Watsonians.
