Gala Rugby Football Club has announced the appointment of Ian Millar as the Netherdale outfit’s new rugby club manager.
Ian has been involved in the development of rugby within the town for more than 25 years, with the last 10 as the club’s youth development officer.
Previous to his YDO role, Ian was a partner in local retail firms Intersport and Sportswise.
His role at the club will be to continue to develop the many sponsorship opportunities available and promote social events at Netherdale, along with continuing the ongoing development of primary school and mini rugby.
He will start his new post early next month.
The club would like to take this opportunity to thank Graham Speirs for his sterling work in covering the post for past year.
Meanwhile, Gala RFC will play Marr RFC, at a venue to be decided, on April 23, in the National One play-off match.
The winner will play their rugby in the Premiership next season, while the loser will be in National League Division One.
The Maroons recently parted company with their coach George Graham, following the disappointing run of results which placed them in the danger zone.
