Langholm opened their campaign in East League division two with a defeat at Penicuik.
Although losing out, Langholm showed some encouraging signs, with a mixture of youth and experience in the team, and still have a number of players to return to action.
Langholm’s Jack Pool was brought down short after a 40m run, but Penicuik went in front with an unconverted try, before Niall Cubbon – who had missed two penalties – ran in to equalise.
The home team edged in front with an unconverted try and it was 10-5 at half time.
Penicuik scored two second-half unconverted tries.
