Hawick kept themselves in contention for the fourth play-off place in the BT Premiership with a hard-fought victory over an Accies side fighting to escape relegation.
Facing a resolute defence, it took the Teries 20 minutes to get points on the board when John Coutts found a good line from a series of rucks to run through for the first try.
The home side went further ahead through a Ross Armstrong penalty, but, despite having a huge territorial advantage, were unable to move the scoreboard again, leaving it 8-0 at the break.
After the interval, Hawick continued the pressure and a second Armstrong penalty increased the gap, but a try for Alex Glashan, converted by Callum Ramm, put Accies right back in the match.
Some resolute defending by the Hawick back line, and another Armstrong penalty, saw the Greens’ victory secured and, sadly for Accies, certain relegation to the National League next year.
