Great fightback from resilient youngsters

Border Reivers Under-18s 17

Caledonia Under-18s 19

The Reivers were edged out by visitors Caledonia in this fixture at Philiphaugh.

The visitors were first on the scoreboard with a converted try by Keith Buchan.  Then from a scrum, winger Callum Gordon scored in the corner for an unconverted try.

Caledonia started the second half in the same vein as the first, and centre Martin Scade turned pressure into points with Ewan Brumwell’s conversion, taking the score to 19-0.

Hawick PSA prop Shawn Muir crashed over from a well-worked line-out and Langholm’s Russell Anderson added another touchdown to reduce the deficit to 19-10.

In the last 10 minutes, Muir went over for his second try, converted by Welsh, to reduce the deficit to just two points, but time eventually beat the Borderers.
