Gobby goes over for first Jed win

Jed-Forest 20

Biggar 13

THIS was just what Jed-Forest needed. After a disastrous start to the new season, including a 78-3 thumping by Watsonians, the Riverside Park men notched their first win, with the returning Ross Goodfellow and debutant Jack Sudlow putting in vital performances.

Jed conceded an early try when Biggar drove over from a line-out, but this spurred the home side into action, pinning their visitors in their own 22 for most of the remainder of the half.

The pressure finally paid off when David Gobby opened their try scoring account – not only for the match but for Jed’s season – on 26 minutes, which was converted by Iain Chisholm.

Chisholm added two further scores in the closing 10 minutes before Biggar replied with a penalty of their own.

Biggar drew level at 13-all with another kick in the second half before Jed got a decisive final score with 11 minutes remaining.

It was David Gobby who went over in the corner and Chisholm converted from out wide for the extra two points.
