A late Ewan Scott penalty clinched a losing bonus point for Gala at Goldenacre on Saturday which, together with a try bonus, keeps the Maroons in the fourth play-off spot.
Only Currie, who still have Glasgow Hawks to play, can now knock George Graham’s men down into fifth.
As yet there is no date set for this rescheduled game but with the play-off fixtures set for March 28 one would expect a decision to be made this week.
Last weekend Gala showed that they fully deserved their league position with a battling display against the league leaders. The result was in doubt right up until the closing minutes of the game with Gala having closed the gap to six points with tries from Alan Emond, Scott, Wilkinson, Gavin Young and Rex Jeffrey, one of which was converted by Scott to add to his penalty goal, with Craig Dods adding an earlier three pointer.
