The late summer sunshine and good underfoot conditions saw a points bonanza at Milntown as Linden eventually ended up comfortable victors after the hosts had made them work hard.

Langholm took the lead with a well-taken Steven Nicol try converted by Nathan Smith. The Royal Blues hit back with two quick tries courtesy of Graham Colville and Gary Lowrie.

Stand-off Niall Cubbon broke through some weak tackling to go over at the posts and Smith’s conversion put Langholm back in the lead. From another dominant scrum, Kirk Ford linked with Steven Bouglas, who sprinted over and Ford converted. Just before the break Smith slotted a penalty to make it 17-all.

The Milntown men were back in front again when Nathan Smith carved his way over for a touchdown he also converted. Linden evened things up with Bouglas’ second try and Ford’s conversion. Two minutes later and Colville also touched down for the second time with Ford adding the extras.

When Langholm lost a man to the sin-bin, the visitors grabbed hold of the game. First Phil MacTaggart went over at the posts for Ford to convert, quickly followed by Colville completing his hat-trick. Langholm responded when Jordan Reid ploughed over with Smith converting.Up the other end, Sean Potts finished off an overlap in the corner. A Colin Jardine try gave Langholm the final word.
