Hawick YM 25
NATIONAL DIVISION ONE
ROB HILL reports from Stoneyhill
ANTYHING Scotland can do, the Skins can do better.
They turned victory into defeat in a heart-wrenching last 10 minutes to end a winning league run of 27 matches stretching back to last August.
Ali Weir slotted the first penalty in two minutes, but Musselburgh stand-off David O’Hagan dropped a sweet goal to level almost instantly.
Weir slotted two more penalties to O’Hagan’s one, before Musselburgh scored the first try, full back Liam Draycott’s deft kick pounced on by Andrew Cook, who converted.
Weir notched his fourth penalty to make the half-time score 13-12.
Weir and O’Hagan exchanged penalties again after the restart before YM’s Stuart Graham scored from a stolen scrum. Weir converted and seven minutes later slotted another penalty to increase the lead to nine.
O’Hare slotted another penalty to take the game to the wire. The heartbreaking converted try came in the 78th minute from a line-out.
