WITH the cancellation of the 1st XV game, the Storm enjoyed a rare outing on the Greenyards pitch in a Borders 2nd XV cup tie.

The scrums were uncontested from the start as Jed had suffered a number of late call-offs and were unable to field the requisite number of front row players.

The first half saw tries from Scotland U20 squad member Ruaridh Knott (2) whilst wingers Lewis Mallin and Jack Hay added a brace each. Not to be outdone, fullback David Colvine and new recruit and Scotland U20 squad member Lewis Carmichael added one apiece to the scoreboard. Half-time score: 50-0.

The second half opened with a try from the returning dual registered Colin Arthur, who reminded the home contingent why he was the Storm player of the season for 2012/13. The Jed line was crossed a further six times, with tries from Lewis Mallin (2) David Colvine (2) stand off Ben Chalmers, and a further effort from Jack Hay.

The remainder of the points came from the boots of Ben Chalmers and David Colvine.

The man of the match award was won by David Colvine, following another excellent display of intelligent “heads up” rugby.
