Berwickshire boys blow semi-junior contest wide open

ON A fantastic day for open, running rugby, Duns Colts ran out worthy winners of the Gala Wanderers Sevens, held at Netherdale on Saturday.

The final was contested between Duns Colts and Selkirk Youth Club, and after a closely-contested first half, the young Dingers’ fitness, determination and skill saw them pull away from the Souters in the second period for a well-deserved win.

Home side Gala Wanderers battled bravely through the early rounds and managed to get to the semi-finals where they lost to the eventual winners.

Semi-finals: Gala Wanderers A 7 Duns Colts 20; Berwick Colts 7 Selkirk Youth Club 24.

Final: Duns Colts 38 Selkirk Youth Club 15.
