Update for Selkirk followers
Supporters, players and sponsors of Selkirk RFC have received an update on club activities from chairman Dennis Henderson – with news of a possible summer rugby festival.
The Philiphaugh boss issued a statement on the club’s website and through social media, as he felt people deserved to know everything was being done to keep the club in the best possible shape, regarding finances and future rugby matters.
“On financial front, we have already applied for a couple of grants which are now available from the SRU and government to offset the results of the Covid 19 lockdown measures,” he said.
“Regarding rugby matters, we have secured the positions of our present 1st XV and 2nd XV team coaches, along with their back-up teams for next season, which is a great position to be at this time. We appreciate their dedication to the club’s cause.
“As we are unable to run our 7s tournament this year, we are hoping to run a rugby festival on August 22.
“This will be based around a shortened 15-a-side competition (30 minutes) which, it is hoped, will involve six local clubs playing against each other.”
