Lana and Lisa in squad for Spanish friendly
Scotland Women’s rugby head coach Philip Doyle has included two Borders regulars in the squad for this Sunday’s friendly in Spain as part of the Six Nations preparations.
Full back Chloe Rollie, from Jedburgh, is currently unavailable because of injury sustained in a pre-Christmas Tyrells 15s match, while scrum half Mhairi Grieve, from Selkirk, is also sitting this one out.
The game takes place on January 19 at the Estadio Municipal Juan Rojas, Almeria, (noon CET / 11am GMT) and will be live on BBC Alba.
The squad includes five uncapped players and is designed to prepare the team for Test conditions ahead of their first Women’s Six Nations match against Ireland on Sunday, February 2.
Doyle said: “I am excited to get to Spain and get this busy year under way.
“We had a camp at the start of January, which was a very physical, tough camp for the players. They were all worked extremely hard and all players were able to keep their work rate up and really push themselves.
“We have a lot of youth in the squad right now. This has brought in an added competitiveness within the squad for certain positions.
“The players are all working hard for their positions and it has raised the standard in the whole squad.”
Scotland return to Scotstoun to play England on Sunday, February 9 followed by France on Saturday, March 7.
