Edinburgh hooker Dave Cherry has signed a deal to stay with the Guinness PRO14 title hopefuls for next season.

The 29-year-old has played 22 times since returning to Scotland from French Fédérale 1 outfit Stade Nicois in 2018, whom he joined as part of Scottish Rugby's "performance pathway" link-up with the Alpes-Maritimes side.

The former Currie and London Scottish player said: "It's always been my goal to play at the top level of rugby and with Edinburgh I believe I can achieve that through continuing to improve in an environment which is unparalleled in its work ethic."

Edinburgh head coach Richard Cockerill praised the hooker, adding: "Dave is a good man who brings a lot to a really strong position group.

"He works hard every day and has improved his game during his time at the club."

Edinburgh-born Cherry won ten caps for the Scotland Under-20 team during the 2010/11 season, and was called up to the initial squad for the 2019 Six Nations tournament.
