“The individual started to feel unwell overnight on September 15, went for a test on September 16, and received the result on the morning of September 17.

“We respect the right to privacy, therefore we will not confirm any personal details.

“Effective immediately from September 17, we have temporarily closed all facilities at the club and ceased all activity, including rugby training at other sites, while we carry out a full risk assessment.

“We are ready to assist the NHS Track and Trace team with any information they might require and we wish the individual involved a speedy recovery.”

The Board at Melrose RFC will be meeting in due course to re-evaluate the temporary closure of the club facilities and activities.
