WATCH: Barker looking forward to new challenge with Bandits

Berwick’s new number one, Ben Barker is looking forward to the challenge of riding with the Bandits after making the switch to Shielfielod during the winter.

Barker, who is a GB international, says the Border club has been chasing him for some time now, and it only took a ‘five minute telephone call’ with director George Hepburn to seal the deal.

Barker faces a near 550 mile trip, one way, for home meetings, but says the prospect of making the journey from his Cornwall home is not daunting in any way.

Barker will lead the team, skippered by Kevin Doolan, into the new season which begins at Berwick this Saturday with the traditional Tyne-Tweed Trophy clash against the Newcastle Diamonds - the return leg will be at Brough Park on Sunday.
