Trained in Lambourn by Jamie Snowden, the top-weight saw off Weather Front by three-quarters of a length in Wednesday’s £15,000 2m 5f event.

Speaking after his only ride on the first Kelso card of the autumn, Sheehan said: “He’s four from four at Fontwell but he’s also won at Ffos Las and now up here. I’d say he’d maybe stay three miles but he certainly in great form.

“He went up 10lbs for his last win and he’s still giving away plenty of weight to the second. He’s probably still got a bit of improvement to come and he’s certainly tough and game.”

Rachael McDonald was all smiles after winning on James Ewart-trained 7-1 chance Nikgarde. The local combination saw off short-priced favourite Rubytwo by three lengths in the scottishracingacademy.scot Novice’ Hurdle.

The winning jockey, from Selkirk, said: “He has improved a lot for his hurdles debut at Hexham. It pretty much went to plan and Kelso has always been a lucky track for me.”

McDonald and Ewart later completed a double with Lake Takapuna.
