After suffering their first defeat of the season last weekend, Fjordhus 2nds wanted to get back to winning ways when they travelled to play Erskine Stewarts Melville 3s.

Reivers faced attack after attack in the early stages, but some solid defending from Alexa Knox, Jade Tyreman, Lynsey Walker and Jackie Wilson meant ESM couldn’t capitalise.

Once Reivers settled into the game, they became the much more dominant side and finally got the breakthrough just before half-time when Sara Robson played a killer pass to Tara Aitchison on the back post to slot home the first goal.

After the break, Reivers continued their dominance, Lauren Grant and Skye Shiells put in tireless work in the centre of midfield, allowing Reivers to create chances.

Laura Holmes’ well-struck shot on goal was saved by the keeper, but Sara Robson pounced on the rebound to give Reivers their second goal.

The visitors added a third when Sara Robson’s strike from a penalty corner was well saved by the keeper, but Imogen Johnstone-Jones’ quick reaction guided the rebound into the goal.

Reivers fourth and final goal came when captain Ashley Robson broke through numerous tackles to come one-on-one with the home keeper. Instead of going for goal, Robson passed the ball to Tara Aitchison at the back post, who placed the ball into the empty goal.

“It was a really great team performance,” said captain Robson.
