The South of Scotland select vaulting squad has been invited to represent Great Britain at the inaugural Junior World Championships.

The weeks leading up to the event, which is held in Ermelo, Holland, from August 4-9, will see the squad of Shannon Purves, Charlie Lochhead, Emma Counsell, Aimee Gillie, Henry Johnston Smith, Elsa Hibbert and Minta Younger training hard.

They will travel out with team horse Royal Dalton and reserve horse Housten, as well as lungers Rebecca Hewit and Stacey Macpherson.

Charlie Lochhead has been selected for the first time to represent Great Britain as an individual in the Junior Male section and he will be vaulting on Bankey Moon, lunged by Rebecca Hewit.

It’s Sophie Aitchison’s second selection and she competes in the Junior Female section, vaulting on KCM Vaulting Horses Lord.

The squad are holding a demonstration night on Wednesday, July 22, at the indoor venue at Newlands Reston, Berwickshire, at 6.30pm. The team will show all aspects of vaulting, as well as the individual and squad routines that will be performed at the Junior World Championships in Holland later this month.

During the evening there will also be a chance to meet all the horses and vaulters who are going to the championships and there will also be a raffle with fantastic prizes. Tea, coffee and Cake will also be available.

The squad are all from across the Borders and would love to show off their skills.
