Seconds triumph after tough test

Edinburgh Uni VII0

Fjordhus Reivers II3

Reivers II kept up their undefeated record and moved back into top spot in East Division One after beating a tough Edinburgh Uni side.

The hosts started well, keeping Reivers pinned in their own half for the first 20 minutes, but great defence meant the Students could not convert their chances.

Once the Borderers settled, they started to pile on the pressure and, just before half-time, were rewarded with a goal by Sara Robson, who picked up a loose ball and played a one-two with sister Ashley.

Reivers continued to dominate after the restart, and an individual run from midfield saw Iona Kellet weave through the Uni defence before bagging her team’s second.

A third soon followed when Jenny Wright cut in from the left of midfield and played a driven pass into the D, finding Ashley Robson, who turned and shot past the home keeper.

Despite being 3-0 down the Uni side kept pushing, but great work and concentration from the whole Reivers team meant they kept a clean sheet.

Rachel Nuttell was player of the match for her tireless work in midfield.
