Faster at FIRST

Speed was the name of the game for the five Gala ASC swimmers who competed at the FIRST swimming meet at Bathgate over the weekend.

All competitors gained impressive times and some collected a few medals for good measure.

On Saturday, Maili Brown (50m back, 100m breast), Sophie Wilson (50m back) and Andrew Berlanski (50m fly, 100m breast, 200m back, 200m & 400m IM) all had great swims, personal bested in all, with Andrew collecting two silver and one bronze.

On Sunday, Maili Brown (50m breast and free, 100m fly, 200m free & 400m IM), Sophie Wilson (50m breast), Sarah Frizzel (50m breast, 200m fly & 400m IM) and Lindsay Jack (100m & 400m IM, 200m free) again all recorded excellent times with Sarah collecting a gold and Lindsay a silver and a bronze.

Also on Sunday, Beth Johnston and Finlay Lindores competed in the SDS National Performance Championships at Stirling University.

Beth swam in the 100m free and back, 200m IM and 400m free, collecting two golds and two silvers. Finlay swam in the 50m free and 100m free, back and breast, and gained PBs along the way.

This was a truly remarkable effort by all.

The club would also like to wish Sarah Frizzel, Elsbeth Roper and Andrew Watt every success in Sunday’s Scottish Schools Finals at Aberdeen.
