Kate unfortunately lost the gold medal on countback, having just skimmed the bar off twice at 1.60m, which would have won.

Girls Under 16 Long Jump – 8 Kate Harvie, 4.72m.

Girls Over 16 Long Jump – 1 Ellie O’Hara, 5.78m. this was a Championship record and Ellie’s third medal of the overall contest – two gold and one bronze.

Ewan Purves’ family was particularly proud of his endeavours, noting previously that, at the age of just 15, he was competing in the under 20 age group , making it all the way through highly competitive heats to semi-finals, and then into the 400m final.

His 51.63 in Glasgow meant he had smashed the personal best which he set only two weeks previously, ranking him at number two in Scotland and number nine in Britain for the event.

“Having only recently been coached by Henry Gray, Ewan now heads to Sheffield for the English Indoor Championships, with the aim to lower his PB yet again and make a place in the final, which would be a huge achievement,” said a relative.
