Young riders all set to get a leg up from Stark Centre

A local rider will benefit from a £250 training award thanks to the success of the Greenhill Farm based Ian Stark Equestrian Centre (ISEC).

The recipient must demonstrate how having this new equestrian facility on their doorstep is helping them to unlock their potential and improve their results.

The idea came about when a local rider, who has recently competed for the first time at BE100 level, mentioned to Jenny Stark at an event how much she and her horse had improved since they had been able to train and compete on a more regular basis at the local Centre. It struck Jenny that there are a lot of riders who have made use of and benefitted from the facility, and that this should be recognised and rewarded.

The ISEC Training Award panel will be looking for applicants who have worked hard, made good use of the Ian Stark Equestrian facility and fixtures on offer, and can demonstrate that as a result they have achieved their goals at whatever level and in whatever discipline they are riding and competing.

The successful applicant will be given £250 of ISEC vouchers, which they can spend on training, facility hire or competition entries at the Ian Stark Equestrian Centre. With some exciting training opportunities and fixtures for the New Year about to be announced, the winner will find plenty to spend their vouchers on.

Ian Stark said: “We are really excited about offering this award.

“The reaction to the Centre since we opened in 2013 has been incredible – we are so grateful for the support we have received, from the local kids aiming for their first common ridings up to top level riders in all disciplines.

“This award is a means of giving something back to a special person who deserves some recognition for the work they have put in and a bit of help in realising their equestrian dream, whatever that may be.

“I have never forgotten the people who helped me in my career, and the Borders community has always been behind me, so it is fitting that we make this award now to a local rider who has really made the most of ISEC over the last couple of years.”

More information on the application can be found at www.ianstarkequestriancentre.co.uk and ISEC facebook page. Applications must be submitted by midnight on Friday, November 6 and the winner will be announced on Tuesday, November 17.
