BORDER TRIATHLETES held their second junior aquathon on Sunday, this time at the Selkirk pool.

Forty-five competitors, from eight years to 16, from the Borders and further afield took part.

Some great swim times were clocked – but it all came down to the run which was either round the playing field or along the river.

Winners in each age group were: 8yrs male, Cameron Thompson; female, Amy Hill; 9/10yrs male, Dwain Patterson; female, Eilidh McCabe; 11/12yrs male, Fraser Veitch; female, Lara Patterson; 13/14yrs male, Robbie Czajka; female, Erin Highton; 15/16yrs male, Lucas Cheskin; female, Skye Shiell.

Border Triathletes wish to thank all marshals and timekeepers as well as sponsors Sainsbury’s who supplied goodie bags for competitors and BSLT who provided medals, trophies and water bottles.

Meanwhile, two club members were representing Great Britain in the European Age Group Championships in Spain, John Haldane and son Keith.

John came a very commendable fifth in the vintage category, with Keith taking 37th in the vets, having found the swim uncomfortable in the high temperature.
