Kelso’s 2nd XI travelled to Tipperlin in Edinburgh on Saturday for their Division Two league match against Watsonians and notched up another fine victory to extend their winning streak to eight games.
The visitors were slow to settle and unable to capitalise on a succession of penalty corners, while at the other end, sweeper Jeanie Robertson worked relentlessly to prevent Watsonians going into the lead and, along with some great saves from keeper Jenny Thumwood, helped to keep Kelso on level pegging at half-time.
Early in the second period, a well-worked break through the centre saw Kirsty Veitch and Sarah Dagg combine well to allow Nicole Baxter to slot home the only goal of the game.
This win means that Kelso have now widened their lead over their closest rivals at the top of the league to five points. Next week’s match sees them host Alpha Data Carnegie Ladies at Earlston.
