Weighty subject for horse lovers

Equine obesity is the topic of a talk by Professor Derek Knottenbelt of Glasgow University, being held at the Buccleuch Arms Hotel, St Boswells, on September 24.

The professor is chairman of the British Horse Society (Scotland) and the meeting is being run by the Borders branch.

Equine obesity is a serious and increasingly prevalent cause of morbidity and mortality in horses in the developed world and Scotland is no different.

The talk will highlight the reasons for the condition and how they can be addressed as well as suggesting ways in which Equine Metabolic Syndrom can be prevented.
