Tweedsiders stick it two Muir ladies

A great performance right from the starting whistle resulted in a fine win for Kelso ladies in their East of Scotland Premier Division clash on Saturday.

It was Boroughmuir who applied the pressure in the first 10 minutes of the game but the city girls could not break through the strong Kelso defence featuring some brilliant tackling by Luana Henderson and Judith Little.

Kelso then turned things around and started to attack the Boroughmuir side with some great 1-2 passes using both wings. Some excellent vision and distribution from the two centre midfield players Evonne Jack and Suzanne Hendry allowed Jennifer Kinsella to pick up the ball and, with some quick thinking, slotted it to Laura Malcolm who, on her reverse stick, scored a superb goal.

Kelso were now on the hunt for their second and the pressure was now on the opposition, but on the counter attack Boroughmuir scored a well worked goal.

Kelso’s second goal did eventually come however when a lovely fast and accurate ball from an Isla Craigie penalty corner to Katie Francis who hit the backboard with a well executed shot.

Kelso kept their structure and composure right to the final whistle for a well deserved win, after a great team performance.

Kelso Ladies would like to thank their sponsors Cranston Builders and Tweed Chiropractic Clinic, as well as the Black Swan in Kelso for match teas.
